I don't believe in in god, but why is it necessary to put that on the internet. It's a very private moment between a mother and son. Some people don't know what to do when faced with their child saying they believe something different than what they were brought up in. I know my mother reacted much the same but she eventually overcame her initial shock and once hearing my viewpoint (like an adult instead of a little punk teenager), we found an agreement. People need to be more mature.

There is a God, or god, if you prefer. He took some matter and energy and created an evolving universe which eventually evolved man, in sort of the same way that I take eggs, flour, butter and other stuff, mix them together and allow them to evolve into a cake. I know it turns into cake the same way god knows that what he did turns into a universe with life given enought time and the right ingredients mixed in the correct way.
Some people who lived thousands of years ago and knew so little they didn't even know Earth is a globe thought differently but they had to tell their kids something when asked "How did I come to exist?" and the Genesis story was the best they could come up with given their limited understanding of the natural world.
Today, those of us who approach knowledge with an open mind know it didn't happen exactly the way it happened in Genesis and that god likely isn't the god depicted in the bible. And we accept people who don't believe in the god the bible portrays. Jesus Christ didn't accept that god either. All of his teaching's were essentially a rejection of the Old Testament which is one of the reasons why the priests had him crucified . Believe in Jesus and if you can't then that's cool too. Just be a good person, that's all he ever asked. That's all he ever wanted. He has some good suggestions on how you can become a nicer person if you take the time to read the gospel. And don't get all hung up on that "Jesus died for our sins" crap. That's just a guilt trip today's priests/ministers/k00ks use.
Be very wary of the folks who tell you everything happened exactly the way it is told in the bible and that you'll go to hell if you don't believe it. I know it did not happen that way because god spoke to me and told me he used the process we call evolution and that it took billions of years. Now all you bible thumpers just go ahead and make total fools of yourselves telling the world you *know* god didn't speak to me because if he had then he would have told me evolution is wrong :) You believe it but you don't really know it. So act accordingly or the rest of us will just laugh our asses off at you.

Ok you guys are pricks, I remember a couple of years back atheists weren't so gay about Christianity, all they wanted was freedom of not believing in god, now they just rip on Christianity, because they think they are right. I'm Christian, but I don't believe everything there is in the bible, but the core of it remains the same, its a book of morals that help you live a good life. Jesus came to help us because god saw that we were turning into a horrible society. The same is happening now, most atheists are turning atheist because it is easier for them not to believe in god and live a more strict life believing in god. Or in other words they don't like the concept of getting in trouble for doing bad things. I'm 16 and I try to be a good person, but I don't go overboard with prayers with meals, or make fun of atheists ( I let them believe what they want). Most Christians follow the same method(there are exceptions), and the fact that people like tylor say thing like that show they are probably the most ignorant and the biggest fagots around here, and are even more narrow minded mother in the movie.

I think there is a stronger force out there, but I wouldn't call it a "GOD" I believe everything has an explanation, we just haven't gotton so far in life as to explain it all. What we can't explain, we call either a miracle, or a tragedy. "Why did God do this to me?" "What would Jesus do?" Lame questions. To me, i think Believing in something like a GOD just gives people someone else to blame but themselves for the wrong-doings, and someone to give credit to when something goes right. A boy wakes up from a coma after 2 years and the response is "thank god!"...why?! why not thank the doctors that attended to his every will within the year? I respect those who believe in God and have a set faith, as we all should for any religion. I just don't think that what you're grown up to know, shouldn't be your only option.
I'm the black sheep of my family if you can't tell :)

First of all, you have no idea whether that kid is doing drugs or not, but that really has nothing to do with religion/non-religion. Secondly, atheism is a LACK of religion, so really more of a belief. And lastly, atheist attacks on Christianity for violence is an ignorant precedent. The laws of our nation outlaw violence towards one another, but just as many atheist's and agnostics rob, rape and murder. I am pretty sure that the columbine kids were atheist/agnostic...so who is hypocritical?

Just as many atheists/agnostics rob, rape, and murder? Where are you getting this from? Is this something made up by you? And the kids that were part of the columbine were religious because they thought what they were doing was heroic and they would be remembered forever. They were part of religious family's and one of them was even part of a Jewish faith. It has been proven and is in many articles. Some people hate religion because of the false hope it promises you, but a lot hate it because religion at times uses the fear of going to hell to tame and keep you in the religion so you don't go to the bad place. Atheists believe neither and live a more free life.

Well the basis of the bible is direct communication with god/jesus/angels etc. so how is that any different. Also, hearing voices is a worrying sign and may indicate mental health problems. Just a thought. Have those who believe in a creation now accepted the evident strength of the theories relating to the evolution of the universe and of life on this planet? I find it amusing that some Christians have now conveniently relegated their particular deity to pushing the switch that starts the process.
This woman is a particularly odious example of the prejudices and lunatic theologies routinely forced upon children by parents who have forgotten that they have a duty to foster an independent and inquiring intellect in their children. They have every right to their beliefs but to force them on children is tantamount to abuse.

a·the·ist-a person who denies or disbelieves the existence of a supreme being or beings. (( i looked it up on dictionary.com )) now... the reason christians are viewed in a bad sence, is when they hear someone say "I'm Atheist" some of them will gasp, then try to force god onto the other with threats of going to this so called "hell" and what not... in other words they go into bitch mode just like in the video. and as far as the crimes... my roommate is a prison guard.. and 99% of the prisoners are godloving/following christians or what ever. they actively read a bible.. and attend church services. now, we dont choose to be atheist because it lets us live easier, its true.. i would rather live with no worries then have to watch my every step so i can go to "heaven" and be a devoted follower of this so called "All loving God" do as he commands, no questions just a yes sir, right away sir... you know... that sounds ALLOT like slavery. i was born in a christian family, i was babtised... but as i grew up i start to compare stories of the bible.. and realised the bible goes against itself ALOT. key thing.. it says god is all loving and all forgiving.. ya, well then WHY THE FUCK ARENT WE BACK IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN?!?!? that right there nearly proves the non-existance of your supreme being.. or how about this.. when someone tells you they have something, or they have done something.. you dont believe them unless they have proof, where is the proof god exists? a child wakes from a comma after a couple of years? no, thats because the hospital kept him alive. if they left it for god to handle the boy would have died a long time ago... or how about someone gets into a wreck and comes out unharmed? its been proven that if something happens to the human body quicker then the brain has time to react, the body takes ALOT less damage. when good things go right, you thank god, why? you dont show the gratitude to the people who actually did something, you give the thanks to the being that was just a thought in the air, but if something goes wrong.. you blame people, unless the wrong was something no one else was involved in, then you blame "gods plan" when you cant find someone to blame. where is the proof of your god? a good feeling you get? im atheist and i get the same good feeling as when i was set on there being a god, that excuse doesnt work... miracles happen? come on... use some f***ing commen sence, most of the miracles only happen because of HUMANS not god.. keeping the person alive before the supposed miracle happened. if it wasnt for that the person would more then likely die and people would be blamed for NOT helping. and being Gay isnt bad.. so a guy likes to do a little suckysucky.. big deal... you dont see people bitching about things straight people do that are out of the normal.. and Atheists are just people who have grown up past the religion... you think Atheists get it better.. well when something goes right, we got people to thank.. when things go wrong, we got people to blame, we follow rules here in the real world that will really effect your life. in religion.. when something goes right you "thank" the people who helped, but you are giving credit to the "devine being" that actually did nothing but remain a thought in the air, you follow rules and live by a BOOK, staying clear off the ice so you can have a supposed better after life that has no real garontee of being.. Atheists live the life we got now. i would rather have fun in this life, knowing that ill get to have the fun.. and take what ever i get next life, if i go to this so called heaven im going to be more or less a slave to this god, doing every thing he says, got to memorize the bible.. and allot of other non-fun stuff (thats what i was taught). but if im entended for hell.. im f***ed either way so might as well have fun while im here. i would rather get to the next life, wether its painfull or boring.. and know that before i went i had a great life... unlike allot of others that stayed in the shallow end of the pool never doing anything to push the limits, just to ensure they have a place in their fictional after life. oh.. but what about people that have seen it... come on... dreams can be very realistic, i have had dreams myself that i could have sworn were real. im sure everyone has had one of those at one point or another.. and the stories you do hear of near death.. pay attention, not long after they have the "vision" they wake up. in a comma i believe as you come out of it, you go from a comma to just a normal sleeping state.. wich you would be able to dream in.. then you wake up. but there is a freedom of religion. believe what you want, or not.

i shouldnt bash on religious people.. ok.. im not.. im bashing on religion. open your eyes, look at the facts.. compare the bible to what you know is real, and what can be proven.. there is so much in the world that proves religion is wrong... IT IS! nearly every war has been based off religion.. some of the worste things that happened had something to do with religion. the oldest war in the world is because of religion. look at history, your religion is over 75% if that low of the causes of all the battle, and wars played out. so many religions in the world believe the world would be better if it was under their control (they want to rule the world) if your god is so mighty, then why does he need money? he should be able to take care of the people who work for him, he should be able to take care of all of the "houses" us humans have built for him. so much "evil" has been committed in the name of "god", but those people didnt see it as evil.. because they thought they were doing right. look around, get your head out of your ass and actually compare the real world to the bible. or you can choose to live in ignorence and continue to believe in the thing that has brought so much pain and agony to the world.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster's peeps are the bomb, and all they do is fast on only meatballs for a week as homage. My own followers don't do anything really, just sort of sit around and talk to me every now and then, ask for s*** I can't give them, get pi**ed when they find out I don't "do" that sort of thing, and then beg forgiveness when I choose to ignore them. Christians who are more willing to listen always stay below the radar, and that's screwed up.

I personally don't think that if there is a god, he cares if you say "f***" even in your prayers, but it is still hilarious that the mom flies off the handle and says the most offensive word in the Enligsh language to tell her son that he sure as hell does believe in god. And, just because the kid was put through some stupid ritual doesn't mean he believed in the significance of it. I was baptised into the Mormon church when I was eight without knowing what the hell was going on, only that it was what my parents expected of me. I personally think that if a person wants to become part of a religion, they shouldn't do it until they are old enough to know what it means.

However, i was raised to be Christian and i respect my families Faith, because despite the religious differences and beliefs, they are in fact my family and as long as the respect goes both ways I'm fine. However i've seen one family, in which a mother very similar to the one above, started yelling at her daughter. Her daughter told a small lie about a cankar sore in her mouth..something about not telling her mom and she said she did, yea i dont know, but the things that came out of the mother's mouth was CRAZY! "YOu're acting like a little bitch and a BAD CHRISTIAN. God doesn't like Liars. You are a BAD CHRISTIAN" Now, this girl was 9 years old. Just old enough to really start believing in something and go forth with her religious pathways (communion, confirmation..etc...) for someone to outright tell you that you SUCK at what you believe in because of a little white lie is outrageous. Hense why i stick to my own guns, i mind my own business and if people ask, i tell, without detail and without option of further interrogation, If you ask me it's no one elses business what religion you are.

"Jesus Christ didn't accept that god either. All of his teaching's were essentially a rejection of the Old Testament which is one of the reasons why the priests had him crucified ."(kim)
lol@u Jesus WAS that God(if you are a trinitarian christian). and the new testament wasn't a rejection of the old testament, it was a completion of it. Jesus was the "Christ" which is "anointed one" in latin/greek(can't remember which) in either case, they weren't "priests" they were "pharisees", basically the upper class. they crucified jesus because they feared him and his teachings. he jeopardized their way of life, which was to basically impose many laws of religious practice on the jews, and make themselves more important.
as far as him going to hell? well that will very much depend on the situation. the very notion of hell is to deny god. so yes, in the christian sense he is going to hell. in the atheistic sense, there can be no hell, because there is no all-powerful creator(correct me if i'm wrong) there can be no existance- this life is all you have, and once you are deadd, thats it. the whole notion of heaven/hell would not matter to an atheist.
as far as "being gay is like a ticket to hell" that depends once again on your beliefs. as a roman catholic, i don't believe being gay is evil and "you are going to hell if you're gay". of course not. the thing that, as a catholic, i oppose, is gay sex. the reason is that gay sex goes against the very nature of sex-"babies and bonding" to be brief. the sex act is there for us to procreate the species and to bond on a deep level with each other. when one of these is missing it goes against the very nature. also I should say that straight marriage is the only place that there should BE any sexual relations, because of the nature of marriage, which is, by definition of the church, to be a "holy union between man and woman in the eyes of God..." sorry I don't know the exact definition but the part I have is the important part, the whole idea that it is between a "man and woman". now, bearing that in mind, we can see that there can be gay marriages in other denominations, and there can be "civil unions" so long as law or teaching permit, but there can be no such thing as a "roman catholic gay marriage" which is the important thing to me.
and If there is one thing that annoys me, it is people like that woman. she gives christians a bad rap. There is no need to flip out on your kid like that. sit down, and have a good, long talk with him about his beliefs. I have several atheist friends, all of them smart, funny people. we often have discussions about our beliefs, and there is no problem with that.in fact, I have found that they have strengthened my faith, because i have to read books and online articles to accurately defend my faith. that is the main problem with so mant christians- they are misinformed, or just ignorant, "belief without substance" christians.
"john the baptist was christ's gay lover!" that comment is so retarded.

how come the internet only puts up the negative things when it comes to Christianity? they never put up things about people that are killed every day for their faith in Christ. they never show anything positive that Christians do. i think it's very biased.
That's because the internet is a place of logic, and the very concept of religion is illogical. It doesn't matter if, occasionally, something good happens as a result of blind faith. It's still a collection of people who have been brainwahsed into believing something that was concieved thousands of years ago, before the scientific proof to disprove it existed.

Alex, the internet is a place of logic because everyone on the internet makes logical arguments and those 13 year olds are very logical.
A school is a place of logic. A research lab is a place of logic. An office is a place of logic. The internet is the exact opposite.
Christians should be allowed to have their beliefs. Atheists should have their beliefs. And to refer back to what another person said, they both have right to the 1st Amendment. Both have their beliefs, and both should just shut the hell up when it comes to religious arguments. I don't want to be either Atheist or Christian because they both have bad names and both groups have extremists who sound like idiots. This thread just proves this point.

God is an atheist.
Think about it.
1.)God knows everything which means that God does not have faith because God knows all the answers.
2.) God does not believe in a higher being.
Atheists: do not have faith
do not believe in a higher being
Therefore God is an Atheist.
If you say otherwise to number 1 or 2 then you in effect disprove the omnipotence of God.

ahh, yes, i remember this forum well. good discussion too. except for a few "douchebags" like "random christian" we have a good debate. and the first issue i will adress is the wonderfully apt post by MT39. ok, first off, as many have said, an atheist is someone who does not believe in any supreme being or power(too lazy to quote verbatim). obviously God must believe in himself to exist. the possibility of him NOT believing in himself brings up quite a few paradoxes I don't want to think about. "1.)God knows everything which means that God does not have faith because God knows all the answers."(MT39) then shortly after, "If you say otherwise to number 1 or 2 then you in effect disprove the omnipotence of God."(MT39) WELL, i disagree with number 1. and btw, i dont disprove the existance of God's omnipotence, because your statement contains falsehoods. yes, God does know all the answers. and yes, God knows everything. but God does have faith. he has faith in us. in himself. ect. you forget that God does not exist in the same sense as us. he is not bound by the same means as us. he has defied gravity, made corpses unbound by decay, and many other miracles that science cannot explain. and fyi, you obviously have faith in an outcome if you know the result. and I have already touched on your second point, that God believes in himself, a "supreme being".
and parents should "mandate" a religion because it gives structure to the upbringing of a child. plus, i you ARE married catholic, you must promise to raise them catholic. raising a child with religion has an added effect of teaching them morals(omg, that is so horrible, i know) and gives good reason for it. in later education, the child WILL learn about other religions, both in school and outside of school. yea, Im done.

As Christians, it is not our job to judge those that do not believe in God. I am a Christian, but God has alot of work to do on me yet before I am at the point he wants me to be. I am a sinner. ALL Christians obviously have human flaws. That is why we go to church; to learn how to live properly. ALL believers fall short of Gods expectations. WAAAAAY short. Certainly, I do not agree with the way this mother handled the situation. Seems to me she's lost sight of the REAL reason we celebrate Christmas. She definitely gives Christians a bad name. A final thought for the atheists: denial DOES NOT negate existence. Here's some irony for you to think about, this God that you deny exists still loves you anyway. You are still His children.

I believe that God is found by looking within ourselves. If you are an atheist ok fine, maybe one day you will come around. The universe is to vast and complex for it to just have appeared without a great creator and planner. Your very existence is critical to someones else's, therefore we all are important to each others developmental growth. Maybe this kids choice to be an Atheist is to help his parents in their acknowledgment of God. He helped his parents by saying that, because now their own faith will grow in their search to help him.
Many people believe the conspiracy theories that Jesus was just a puppet for the secret societies and just a fabrication to further control the populous, but if you are into the paranormal you will see that spirits that are stuck here on earth due to some unforeseen death want to go into the light, and paranormal investigators will tell you their experiences with Demonic and Angelic forces. When they perform a cleansing or exorcism they are in dealing with it, therefore it must exist. I encourage you to watch shows like Paranormal State on A&E and UFO Hunters. There is so much in this world and universe that we cannot grasp due to a predisposed belief that they cannot exist.

As hilarious as this is, it's also sad. And you know, even if it is staged, I wouldn't doubt that there are people that would react like this if their child suddenly became atheist. It's ridiculous if you ask me. Not that the child wants to be atheist, that the parent thinks they can control it. If you ask me, if your god is so great, then why do you have to fight so hard for me to believe you? If he was so amazing, I would believe in him without a second thought. But I don't. And people like this, oh I'm sorry, correction, Freaks like this, are the reason the youth is afraid to just come out and say it. I know people that have begged me to keep it a secret from family&friends, just because they don't feel like being harassed. Somehow I don't think Jesus would act that way at all. Strange how people don't want to allow each other free will.

Most "christian' holidays were FIRST Pagan, Druidic, Celtic, etc celebrations. They were later warped by the catholic church and other Christian faiths in effort to deter the originators from having a power and celebration of their own outside of the 'right' way christian faith. Sadly the MAJORITY of people that are followers of christ in it's multitude if religions do not accept the true and REAL history of the 'holidays' they celebrate. The only Christ based faith that seems to have a grasp on things are Jehovah's Witnesses...as there is no WRITTEN dates, of when exactly the events of the bible such as the birth of christ the death and rise of christ and so forth the celebration is not had. I am a pagan. However I read much on religion and theology, it is important to know FACTS before you argue points. If you are ill informed you just look like a fool. By the way...Pagans and Wiccans are NOT followers of this Satan demon Christians so obsessively accuse us of worshiping. How does one worship a deity that is not of one's faith? Ignorance must be nice as it focuses your anger and hatred at those who are not like you...making you less like your God and more like your Satan.

Christmas is a Pagan holiday anyway, the Christians thought it was a cool idea and stole it. Right on kid, Fuck religion.

In the spirit of looking at history, people who read the Bible should realize that it is in no way a single work of religious literature. It was written over thousands of years by people of very different beliefs. If it contradicts itself it is only proof of human influence on it.

I am a believer. My teenage daughter isn't. When she told me, I told her that was fine. She is her own person with her own mind and is free to believe what she wishes.
My reaction was that way for two reasons: 1. if you push kids to think/do/feel something, they just dig in their heels about the issue and 2. she is not me. She is her own person and I cannot control how she thinks and feels. Nor would I want to.
The way I see it, I will love her no matter what she believes. She is my child. If she were gay, I'd love her. If she ended up in prison, I would love her. That doesn't mean I agree with all of her choices, but they are hers to make. I got my chance to make mine already. And I can love a person without condoning or loving everything they choose to do. My parents smoke. I think smoking is nasty. But I still love my parents. Same principle.

The taping of such a private discussion obviously shows that this woman was set up. She was obviously provoked on purpose, because the kid knew how she'd react. It was no doubt an incredibly painful moment for her. Why didn''t he just shoot her and put that on video?
Say what you want, but this really lacks class!

hahahaha she doesn't look very christian herself. if that's what being religious is like I never want to touch another bible as long as I live
That's really sad. I'm going to be compared to this lady now when people ask me if I'm religious. Too bad for the kid too.
Seriously, I doubt even God approves.
So is he serious? If someone was taping it, it makes me think it might have been staged.
how come the internet only puts up the negative things when it comes to Christianity? they never put up things about people that are killed every day for their faith in Christ. they never show anything positive that Christians do. i think it's very biased.
That's pretty silly... The kid looks like he's doing it just to wind his mum up.
Stupid (american) christians! You're so ignorant.
good for him. every thing on the internet about christianity is negitive because it not real. come on people come to your senses there is no such thing as a all ruling wholly lord(god)
hell yes she is mad her son just admitted that he is going to hell. its just as bad as if he said he was gay. people are always s***ting on religion these days and think its alright people can believe what they want to and strong belief is nothing to laugh at. but thats the problem with some people they live their lives in blind faith and are not allowed to question so the are lead astray.
Mohamed, you just made me laugh very hard. You just said going to hell was like being gay. , but in your next line you contradict yourself and say "people can believe what they want to" First off, i ask you, can people be gay as long as they believe in it and secondly if an Atheist doesn't believe in hell, will he or she go there, by your reasoning, they won't, as they don't believe in it.
What?! Nothing for Christmas?! In that case, I believe. Excellent approach, Mom!
im not real!
hahahahaha thats f@#cking awesome dude Way to go.
i know how you feel
"how come the internet only puts up the negative things when it comes to Christianity? they never put up things about people that are killed every day for their faith in Christ. they never show anything positive that Christians do. i think it's very biased."
So being killed for your faith in christ is da good thing ? I think i'd rather be an atheist then.
Christmass is about Jesus? Have you done your homework?
Ahahaha. Aha. Ha. Wow.
Christians should try to be more Christ-like. =)
THAT MOTHER IS SICK. FREEDOM OF RELIGION KISS MY ASS. SICK CHRISTIAN FUCK BITCH. I WISH I WAS THERE, I'D KICK HER FUCKING ASS, I HOPE SHE DIES AND GOES TO HELL.
THIS VID REALLY PISSES ME OFF, AS DO CHRISTIAN BITCHES.
wait, natedigity, are you criticizing this page for the whole internet's content? also, there is plenty of goddy stuff too, you aren't looking in the right places. humor sites won't get you too far.
sisyphus, i agree. if only they knew what it truly meant. sigh...
f*** god
theres nothing wrong with being christian, or gay, or atheist.
its kind of sad if you dont recognize that religions are personal choices and arent essential for everyone.
john the baptist was christ's gay lover!
i could've written a better bible!
no way it should've taken moses and co. forty years to cross that sand.
blah blah blah
lol, funny s***, that mom goes OVERBOARD. im the same way, im just glad my mom isnt so narrow minded.
haha, funny
to the person who thinks it may have been staged, i doubt it..
it looks like one of his brothers got out the camera as he was being yelled at
xD, so did he like, just go up to his mom and be all "im atheist"?
my parents found out my disbelief through myspace, xD
bitch
Aaahahahahahahahaha.
Awesome.
"FINE!"
"no, it's NOT FINE!"
Beautiful.
Now here's me thinking that the Christian thing to do is, uhh, lets see, forgive?
Vlad, the problem is, the most vocal of either community don't usually hold those standards. The vocal ones are usually hold the more hypocritical, extreme versions opinions. The internet and its anonymity makes it easy to express those opinions, so people can propose their less tolerant views without having social consequences.
Those are the type of christians that are dangerous.
any 'normal' christian is supposed to be tolerant of whatever someone else thinks. it's disgusting.
*not athiest, for the record.
just don't believe in religion.
What a riot. So much for being a religion of peace and understanding. Hypochristianical.
i personally believe that this represents a lot of the Christian society as a whole in this day and age. people should accept their children as they are... at least he's not running the streets slangin' heroin and creating a bad name for his family. refer to the first amendment guys. we all have the freedom of speech and religion. this shows how ridiculous people in society have become.
Oh and muhomad, i'm gay and i and there is absolutely no problem with that just as there is no problem with his religious beliefs. Ignorant asshole.
The web is atheist! And I'm very happy bout it.
I love God
You know, i was brought up Christian-catholic and my family is rather into their faith, not hardcore church goers but every baby has been baptized and whatnot, and then there is me...the little agnostic who is more about literal translation than metaphorical.
Oh yeah. Coming from a family of Christians...that lady is definitely a Christian.
"Be very wary of the folks who tell you everything happened exactly the way it is told in the bible and that you'll go to hell if you don't believe it. I know it did not happen that way because god spoke to me and told me he used the process we call evolution and that it took billions of years."
They have every right to their beliefs but to force them on children is tantamount to abuse.
such thing happen only in the us... morons
a·the·ist-a person who denies or disbelieves the existence of a supreme being or beings. Atheists live the life we got now. i would rather have fun in this life, knowing that ill get to have the fun.. and take what ever i get next life, if i go to this so called heaven im going to be more or less a slave to this god, doing every thing he says, got to memorize the bible.. and allot of other non-fun stuff (thats what i was taught). but if im entended for hell.. im f***ed either way so might as well have fun while im here. i would rather get to the next life, wether its painfull or boring.. and know that before i went i had a great life... unlike allot of others that stayed in the shallow end of the pool never doing anything to push the limits, just to ensure they have a place in their fictional after life. oh.. but what about people that have seen it... come on... dreams can be very realistic, i have had dreams myself that i could have sworn were real. im sure everyone has had one of those at one point or another.. and the stories you do hear of near death.. pay attention, not long after they have the "vision" they wake up. in a comma i believe as you come out of it, you go from a comma to just a normal sleeping state.. wich you would be able to dream in.. then you wake up. but there is a freedom of religion. believe what you want, or not.
it's people like her that give christian people a bad name for not being understanding. i feel so bad for the kid, how can a mother do that, if i were that kid i would have walked away. uggh she just got so mad.. ughh-- and for the person above me, it ok that your an atheist, but don't go trash talking religious people we are not like that, we are just look upon that way because of people like her. but you have no right to bash on those who believe, the truth is there in the book whether you take it as the truth, or a good book , or a load of crud is up to you, just don't trash people for they believe, because in that sense your just as bad as her just for the opposite side.
Christmas has become so gift and present orientated that it has litte or nothing to do with the birth of "jesus" anymore... i bet some people don't even know what christmas is celebrated!! and p.s god doesn't exist... and i dont believe in heaven or hell so i won't go to either one, i just wanna be either eaten by worms and maggots or be burn to a cinder... =D
If you are an athiest like this kid then watch this movie right online .. it will make you think twice about the last 2008 years of "god" :) www.zeitgeistmovie.com
does she thinks he is going to believe in God if she acts like that? you can't push somebody to believe you have to be patience
i shouldnt bash on religious people.. ok.. im not.. im bashing on religion. open your eyes, look at the facts.. compare the bible to what you know is real, and what can be proven.. there is so much in the world that proves religion is wrong... IT IS! nearly every war has been based off religion.. some of the worste things that happened had something to do with religion. the oldest war in the world is because of religion. look at history, your religion is over 75% if that low of the causes of all the battle, and wars played out. so many religions in the world believe the world would be better if it was under their control (they want to rule the world) if your god is so mighty, then why does he need money? he should be able to take care of the people who work for him, he should be able to take care of all of the "houses" us humans have built for him. so much "evil" has been committed in the name of "god", but those people didnt see it as evil.. because they thought they were doing right. look around, get your head out of your ass and actually compare the real world to the bible. or you can choose to live in ignorence and continue to believe in the thing that has brought so much pain and agony to the world.
Being "a" God, I can see why she might be so adamant of her son's beliefs. Her God must be the vengeful and will hate you if you "aren't-their-friend-anymore" type of God. Those guys are pricks, I used to be one, and then I found out that it is so much easier to not care what your followers think about you, because they will think whatever you tell them, and also will do (as free-will dictates) anything they want. Worship isn't something that is obligated, just look at Scientology, they don't really worship and yet they have their strong belief system. I guess I'm sort of the black sheep of the Gods. Oh and there are plenty of us, just ask around, I'm sure about 1 in every 500,340,223 of you humans will be one at least twice in your soul's cycle, look forward to it, you live FOREVER and you can actually do most of those silly Chuck Norris jokes.
@ Athiem==Misinformed
Acctually at least with respect to homocide, religious people are much more likely to kill http://dailyatheist.blogspot.com/2008/02/homicide-and-religion-linked.html
Now then, I just love these long winded entirely pointless speeches, just so you guys know, yes, somebody does read these, but I think it's a simple enough issue. First of all, the vid is hilarious because the mom flips out, could have been about anything, not just religion. Second, you guys are taking the few who extremely protest their opposites and taking them as representatives of a huge group. There is such a thing as gray (trust me, I checked).
The Bible says in Romans 1:18-20 that
"..What may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse."

you better balls up. you're about to get f***ed out of alot of presents.
lose the stupid ad that hurts my eyes!
cool video btw
She has every right to be upset, just as he has every right to be an atheist.
It's not surprising that there are so many negative things about Christians on the internet. Christians who are overtly bigoted are always in the light because they make such a fuss over their beliefs.
Christians who are more willing to listen always stay below the radar, and that's screwed up.
It doesn't matter if there is or isn't a god. If you want to believe in it, fine. If not, great. But everyone can think what they want, including kids. I personally think that if a person wants to become part of a religion, they shouldn't do it until they are old enough to know what it means.
i think collective worship of something is silly, can only lead to bad things. go find your own god and not one you have been told about.
haha, you people are so gullible, don't believe everything you see on the internet!
i like pie
hahaha she's a bitch.
"we're going to church every week" does she really think more christian propoganda will "solve" the problem. he made up his mind, leave him alone and deal with it.
You know, I can honestly say i'm agnostic. I believe in something, it's just not defined very clearly and it's my own thoughts put together.
"john the baptist was christ's gay lover!" that comment is so retarded.
the very reason why I dont go to church...people like that
wait, what?
her son is an atheist and the best she can come up with is no gifts for christmas?
what the f***?

This website can't convince you, but God can."
this website isnt convincing me... and you trying to force religion isnt helping.. and where is god so he can "lead" me to his so called path? i know it seems like im forcing my beliefes... well for this thread, i guess i am... the world would be a much better place with out religion. because then people can kill and not lie about why they are doing it. its only a matter of time before allot of the religions are just little groups. more and more of todays youth is loosing their "faith". i dont have a single friend that believes in god. have a few that are pagen. but most are agnostic and athiest. and most of the people my age i meet are either doubting their religion. or have already left it to live the life they have now.
She doesn't seem to act like a christian. I thought it was funny how she wanted to withhold Christmas lol
i personally find ni&&er to be more offensive than f****

how come the internet only puts up the negative things when it comes to Christianity? they never put up things about people that are killed every day for their faith in Christ. they never show anything positive that Christians do. i think it's very biased.
That's because the internet is a place of logic, and the very concept of religion is illogical. It doesn't matter if, occasionally, something good happens as a result of blind faith. It's still a collection of people who have been brainwahsed into believing something that was concieved thousands of years ago, before the scientific proof to disprove it existed.
so wheres the scientific proof?
This thread just proves this point.
god created man, man created machine, machine created internet and dissed god
It's real. Freak out! She just don't want her kid to go to 'hell'. Ps God is real, but this is sad.
I love how she threatens him with Chistmas
Wow...I just relived my entire freshmen year in college. It's EXACTLY how my mother acts when I remind her I am an atheist.
And then my aunt threatens me with Christmas too. We can all ignore that Christmas is about ???? and PROFIT, and return to how it's about bringing together families, where noone is allowed to be angry, and rather, a bunch of people get drunk and recall the "incident of 1998."
I can't wait for the day when everyone else realizes they've wasted their entire lives believing in some all powerful being that created the entire universe, yada yada yada. I come from a very religious family, complete with 3 pastors, so I can say that yes, that bitch is definitely christian. It's a perfect example of how hypocritical christians really are. Believe in god, or you don't get a Christmas! Fuck her.
God is an atheist.
Think about it.
1.)God knows everything which means that God does not have faith because God knows all the answers.
2.) God does not believe in a higher being.
Atheists: do not have faith
do not believe in a higher being
Therefore God is an Atheist.
If you say otherwise to number 1 or 2 then you in effect disprove the omnipotence of God.
have you guys ever read the bible theres some pretty f***ed up stuff going on there i mean it says you can have slaves from neighboring nations or sell your daughter into slavery or kill your kid if hes sinful i mean if you really want more people to be atheist i think they should just read the bible its one of the most sexist and immoral books written pick it up yourself!
Actually MT39, an Atheist, according to dictionary.com is someone who does not believe in a deity or in supreme beings. I'm pretty sure God believes in himself...you believe in yourself am I right?
See this is why it's so f***ed up that parents have to mandate a religion before a child can think for themselves. Hell I know I was under the same s*** of having NO CHOICE in my beliefs as a catholic until I grew the f*** up and learned all the other faiths and beliefs outside the christian church and I can't honestly say I'm catholic anymore based on how much more accepting I have evolved once exposed to many other truths. Parents why don't you let your children be their own people and let them decide what they believe when they grow old enough to reason and think?
Sorry I meant to say other beliefs not truths b/c no one really knows the "TRUTH" despite what ancient text and scrolls and beliefs were discovered. They are as vague and can have many meanings so therefore I regret mis typing truths b/c they are basically what you get from ancient times.
xocourageox well said my person, well said!
my heart goes out for this guy
i had it easy my parents werent that fussed
keep thinking for yourselfs
(please dont bother praying for me or condemning me to hell, thanks)
best comment = brian
She's not Christian, she's Catholic. BIG DIFFERENCE!
And for you atheists, would the world be such a horrible place if everyone tried to live up to the example Jesus set, whether you believe him to be the Son of God, just a deluded man, or just a story?
Is the idea of "doing unto others as you would have them do unto you" such a bad idea that we need to condemn anyone who tries to follow it?
Staged.
"you're not getting any christmas presents this year because that's what christmas is about! Jesus Christ!"
i dont think it's supposed to be about getting presents, but hey, i'm an atheist too.
Atheists are going to hell end of story. All Scripture is God-Breathed. It is absolutely necessary to believe in God.
It's his choice. It's stupid for her to nullify his decision and assume that she is definately correct.
and to the turd burgling mother f***er above me, you are a really big douche.
Explain to me how it is absolutely necessary to believe in god, you f***ing bigot.
i am an agnostic, by the way. I personally believe we are here to appreciate the wonders gods universe has created, within mathematics, science and the evolutionary process. The bible is a usefull peice of liturature, as long as (what i see as) the true meaning is understood, and not read literally. The world is not 5000 years old, you fools.
Rant over
so sad how he tells her his beliefs, even though he probably knew she'd react like this, and she not only yells the s*** outta him, but she acts like the worst thing she can do is take away his christmas presents?
after all that the material presents are supposed to be the most important thing?
and plus, she isn't NEARLY as good a christian as she thinks she is...... i mean, what she's doing sounds just the TEENIEST bit like wrath, aye? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_deadly_sins#Wrath_.28Latin.2C_ira.29 (particularly genocide...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genocide)
and to "Random Christian"---
f*** you.
you should be more opened minded and stop being such an opinionated idiot, thanks.
FUCKIN CHICKEN PIE FROM JELLY DONUT
AND A GREEN SHIRT FROM THE DRAWER AT THE GATES OF HELL WHILE THE CREEP WHO SAT BY THE DOOR STAYED ALL NIGHT AND INTO THE EARLY MORN
WHILE THE GATE OF IF HEAVEN STAND OPEN AND FREE TO ATHIESTS AND THE CLOCK
ahh, yes, i remember this forum well. good discussion too. except for a few "douchebags" like "random christian" we have a good debate. and the first issue i will adress is the wonderfully apt post by MT39. ok, first off, as many have said, an atheist is someone who does not believe in any supreme being or power(too lazy to quote verbatim). obviously God must believe in himself to exist. the possibility of him NOT believing in himself brings up quite a few paradoxes I don't want to think about.
Here's the way I see it, if heaven is filled with people like her, you're god damn right I'd rather go to hell.
ahh, but the problem with that is that in order to get into heaven she would spend quite a bit of time in purgatory in order to atone for sins(but noone knows for sure- only God knows) so people like that would not be the same- they would be perfected and a saint
It's Ironic, but the only responses I have for that are "Jesus Christ!", "God help that kid", and "Who the hell whips out a camera for that kind of thing?". And the first thing she punishes him with is no Christmas? Poor kid, he got born to crazy religious people, instead of the nice kind.
The only thing funnier than the clip is the comments of all the people who took it so seriously :)
Fantastic.
Regards,
Andy (an Atheist)
It's Obvious that she's frightened. She really believes that her son is going to hell. It's his choice though and he doesn't believe that he's going to hell.
I think the kid got caught doing something else and it just lead toward religion no way does some one get that anger over one small thing I bet she also found out he got a girl pregnant or something.
wow. Christmas? thats one of her main selling points that the kid will get nothing for christmas? as if thats whats its all about. stupid woman. but she was probably just really sad and angry. stay in the kitchen where you belong. lol
Sally pretty much summed it up for me.
OKAY
F*CKING ATHEISTS!!!
YOU CAN 'NOT BELIEVE IN GOD'
BUT OUR GOD,
WILL F*CK YOU IN HELL!
RIGHT IN THE ASS
MWAAHAHAHAHAHA!
I wanted to see more. The video just cuts out in the middle of her sentence. I wanted to see what happened next!
I'm just laughing at the other bloke (I presume it's the kids dad) just sat there silently, probably thinking "I married a schizoid. Delete me from reality, please."
I can't see anything wrong with the response. Seems appropriate for a Christian mother to be angry.
That's what Jesus is about.... suppressing all other beliefs.

seee if your a good person but you don't believe in god he will have a temper tantrom and send you to hell were you suffer for eternity but if your a bad person like a misonary in the crusades and kill people for your religion like cristiany your a good person and you get prazed by the egotistical god
pwnd
Not real you idiots. Look at how she turns him around in his chair. *sigh*
This is unbelievable. This woman is so far out of line. Being a parent does not give you the right to indoctrinate your child through fear-mongering and tyranny, especially not they way she is and for the reasons she is. I mean she needs a serious slap round the chops and then a baseball bat to the knees. I hope you read this bitch.
Wow that psycho woman sure is convincing....
What a total bimbo, what language. no wonder the kid doesn't believe in God!!!
Poor kid... I hope he doesn't turn like that woman.
Her total lack of education is frightening.
natedigity you complain that there are only negative things about Christianity on the internet... how about you start and post a few positive things on it? As Ghandi says "Be the change you want to see in the world"
It so funny when people say, "I don't believe in heaven or hell, so I'm not going to heaven or hell." It's like saying, "I've never seen atoms, so I don't believe they exist." Atheists think they are the logical ones, but just as often they are as illogical as many religious people.
It's not just Christians either, even though they definitely seem to be the worst. Everyone is guilty.
That doesn't make any sense Ryan. People not believing in Heaven or hell are disbelieving one man-written book, while people not believing in atoms are disbelieving a good portion of modern science.
So to sum up she basicaly says "FUCKING BELEIVE IN GOD BECAUSE IF YOU DONT YOU GET NO XMAS PRESSISE!!"
Not really sure thats what Jesus would like his followers to be like...
think shes got the wrong idea
ha ha ha, he keeps his ground till she says no presents, ha ha ha.
this video isn't about religion at all.. it's about a teenager who is trying to find himself and a worried out of touch mother who loves her kid...
they want to be connected, they are.. but they can't see it.. that is the dispute.
everyone i know has doubted god or wrestled with what they believe in.. thats completely normal. EVERY parent thinks they are right and want's there kid to be happy.. and most don't know how to talk to they're kids as adults because what like 3 yrs ago that kid was prolly not even driving a car. He's trying to figure out who he is. apparently he wants his mom to be a part of his life but doesn't know how to do that without being a snotty teenager.. because he's a teenager. and prolly a really sensitive artistic and highly intelligent one.
this video is funny because it's SO TRUE with so many people...
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able, and willing?
Then why is their evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God
~Epicurus
What the heck man. That poor kid. :/
I hate parents. I really do.

ROOFL COPTERRR!!!!!!!
( this argument just isn't worth getting into. but it was funny watching all you atheists get upset about it ^^!)
HAHAHA! XD
God is Love. For everyone who says, "if you don't believe in this or that, you are going to hell", God is Love and forgiveness and joy. He loves us, and because of that love I wouldn't be surprised if he was waiting at the gates at the end giving us one more shot.
she seems to have forgotten that the x-mas tree and the exchanging of gifts at Christmas time was actually a pagan tradition. so really Christmas has nothing to do with Jesus.
props to the kid for standing up for what you believe in (or don't believe in as the case may be)
The mom had it right, what is this world coming to... To many times we allow our children to slip away from something so positive as Jesus. Perhaps she was going about it in the wrong manner with all the yelling because the kid was calm but God is a very important thing in a family and always has been. Who are you all to say how a person should raise their children anyway?
"To many times we allow our children to slip away from something so positive as Jesus."
... You mean positive like HIV, because that's a terrible comparison, christianity has killed far more people than HIV. They should try fighting that instead, lock in the people who are "Jesus positive" so they can't infest others around them.
I think she handled it well.
Stupid woman. If i were her son i would have left that house. She went over the top. It's the son's choice and Christmas is commercial now not about Jesus anymore.
I was born atheist and that's how i will stay because of nutters like her.
Lmfao The dad isn't even saying anything while the mom is trying to be an uber control freak. Stupid bitch, people like her are the reason most of the Christians who are looked down upon are looked down upon.
i jsut read through all of your comment and some of them are pretty silly.
i was raised to believe in one thing. religion is guidance, weather or not its true isn't the problem.
you chose your own guidance. if people have a problem with that then they can FUCK off!
Isn't that a bit hypocritical to curse towards her son like that in the first place, and pretty much just tell him that what he believes is wrong?
i happen to be atheist, but at the same time i don't hate Christians (certain Christians though), and to clerify, by atheist i mean i don't believe in god
Go ahead and argue, I'm an atheist, and I think the reason atheists are attacking Christians suddenly is because they're sick of all the abuse they've had. Or maybe not, whatever, it's not going to end.
Morgan Freeman once said, Religion is the opiate of the masses.
Jesus f***ing Christ.
These are the kind of people that I don't like.
I have nothing against religious people, unless they do stupid s*** like this.
Oh Micheal Tarpey, you asshole. Why must you hate your parents so much?
jesus= christmas= presents.
I love her logic, it's spot-on.
I hate you all
Good for that kid!
Way to go mom, scream jesus into his heart. RAHHHHH GOD IS REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARGGGG... Good for the boy, he has no invisible means of support.
AUGH. Sounds like my mother.
the troll must be full by now
I would like to address natedigity's point. There is no requirement for satirists to be fair. Neither is there any rule requiring Christians and their publications to include the atheist point of view. So,
